Deiuokara enjoyed its 60,000th visitor this week. Since the website's beginning on the now defunct Hometown AOL Celtic Nation USA page back in December, 1999, our website is now average approximately 700 new visitors a month.

Today we celebrated a festival for Brigindu, parallel to Imbolc for Brig. Our families enjoyed the beautiful day and celebrated our Goddess.
Following the ritual themes of increase outlined in the Apple Branch, we meditated upon:
Ablution, to wash away elements that impede increase.
The crios Bride as the primary symbol of increase.
The brideog, representing Brigindu herself.
The cros Bride as the magical agent for bringing increase into our lives by means of a ritual passage through Brigindu's womb
On the crosoga, an object we charged with energy of the ritual in order to conserve the energy for future use.

Today we celebrated a festival for Lugus, parallel to Lughnasa for Lugh. Our families enjoyed the beautiful day and celebrated our multi functional God of our community, enjoying the afternoon thunderstorm that accented our celebration.
Rejoicing in our bounty of the harvest, we meditated upon the following themes outlined in the Apple Branch:
The assembly on high.
The Pageant of the Triumph of Lugus
The Solemn Reaping and enjoying of the harvest's first fruits.
Horses racing in water.
Fertility Magic of paired couples.
Burial of Flowers.
The community's order.

So as another summer comes along with missed deadlines, IMBAS the organization is quiet, without a president, without an active, updated website, with a Lorekeeper's course in mothballs that no one gets to see because there is not a 501c to promote it...we read what people say they can't do, can't accomplish, don't have the money or support for and the mood gets dismal...that is until someone comes along and

Dawn broke the horizon yesterday to our fires here in Pensacola as we celebrated the beginning of a season of action and energy! With passing of giamos into samos, we celebrated the divine wedding of Maponos to the Flower Maiden, the youthful manifestation of the land goddess and recognized the banishing of Cernunnos into the world of the forests.

I love Imbolc. There is something about the celebration that conjures up optimism for the coming season of spring. Here in the northwest Florida Gulf coast, the temperatures this year have not been below the mid 20's F for the lows, and I count my blessings as I see how my friends in the north and the midwest have been hammered with the snow storms as of late.
Our festival day was beautiful and we enjoyed our communion with Brigindu, our friends, and our families.
I hope all of you who celebrated enjoyed the same!

There has been some debate as of late on the Live Journals and Yahoo groups devoted to Celtic Reconstructionism about whether a CR path should be pan-Celtic or more culturally specific, such as Irish, Welsh, etc.
Several have spoken out saying that this is not really CR, in fact the self professed "elders" of CR have stated in their "The CR FAQ" website that CR is not pan-Celtic and should, instead, be locally specific to Celtic speaking areas such as Ireland, Wales, Scotland, etc.
It is obvious that there is strong circumstantial evidence

Erynn Rowan Laurie, one of the self professed creators of Celtic Reconstruction as an "ism", bemoaned the latest trends in Internet E-list CR discussions and likened the public's view of CR followers as "academic wankers".
"The other thing I've seen an awful lot of lately, not just here but on some of the other lists, has been the degeneration of CR discussion into pure linguistics," complains Laurie in a recent thread about list silence on Nemeton. "It's no wonder people think we're all a bunch of purely academic wankers, if that's all they see."
Laurie has evidently been feeling the on-line heat as of late. What she calls a "degeneration"

Deiuokara is a proto-Celtic construction of a word meaning "reverence of the divine". It was originally a word coined for possible use by the Imbas organization back in late 1999 to describe their path. During the following elections, Deiuokara lost out to Senistrognata ("Ancestral Customs") and became forgotten in the back waters of IMBAS-public list history.
Since it was discarded, we picked it up. It is a great word to describe our path; so much so, we have decided to highlight it as our new website domain name. Our new site design is a work in progress and will be updated over the next few months as our schedules permit.

Well you might be surprised at the latest answer on the latest rewrite of Erynn Rowan Laurie and Kathryn Price NicDhana's CR FAQ at http://paganachd.com/faq/whatiscr.html#religionorculture

It is a difficult task to create a religious umbrella based on a pre-Christian ancient culture. It's even more difficult to develop a FAQ which all associated with the umbrella will agree upon when that ancient culture is Celtic. The men and women attempting this task over at CR R Live Journal deserve praise for their efforts and their emerging product, which in many parts has become quite an informative body of work.
The new CR FAQ is now on-line: http://www.paganachd.com/faq/index.html
The authorship of the FAQ is claimed by Kathryn Price NicDhna and Erynn Rowan Laurie. Most of the 10 or so CR's directly associated with this project are Americans, not fluent in Celtic languages, and, for the most part, unlettered with scholarly degrees in Celtic studies. The "usual suspects" as CR elders call themselves, who hang out on Imbas-Public and CR/R on Live Journal, are spending much time on a comprehensive CR FAQ, and seem to have a genuine desire to do the best they can developing a modern spiritual practice that is as "authentic" as possible to what the ancient pre-Christian Celts might have practiced spiritually.
